On July 28, 2026, Railway Transport College hosted an official visit by a delegation from one of the People's Republic of China's leading vocational education institutions — the Nanjing Vocational Institute of Railway Technology (NIRT). The visit was led by the institute's Chancellor, He Xingchu, and the delegation included heads of international relations, academic affairs, and railway-related departments, as well as other academic staff.

The visit continued the successful cooperation between the two educational institutions that began in 2025, aiming to further deepen the partnership in the fields of vocational education and railway industry development.

The delegation visited JSC "Georgian Railway" and, on site, learned about the company's infrastructure, ongoing technical activities, and vision for the development of the railway sector.

The official working meeting held at Railway Transport College was attended by Baia Kvitsiani, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia; Natia Kiria, Head of the Human Resources Department of Georgian Railway; Shota Jincharadze, Head of the Marketing Analysis and Sales Department; and Mikheil Grigorashvili, Deputy Director of the Freight Branch.

During the meeting, both educational institutions presented their respective development histories, key achievements, and future development visions. At the end of the visit, the delegation toured Railway Transport College's modern training facilities, laboratories, and practical training spaces.

Representatives of the Nanjing Vocational Institute of Railway Technology expressed interest in establishing long-term cooperation with Railway Transport College in Georgia. It was noted that this initiative would help improve the quality of vocational education, facilitate the exchange of international experience, support the implementation of joint programs, and prepare highly qualified specialists for the railway sector.

Deputy Minister Baia Kvitsiani noted that cooperation with international partners is an important foundation for the development of the vocational education system, and that initiatives like this would help raise the quality of vocational education in Georgia, introduce modern standards, and develop a competitive workforce.

At the working meeting, the parties discussed deepening cooperation in vocational education and prospects for the development of railway vocational education, including: integrating practical experience and technology into the learning process, developing educational resources, and implementing joint educational and research projects. They also discussed expanding opportunities for exchange programs for vocational education teachers and students. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening the close link between education and industry.

This visit marks an important milestone in strengthening Georgia-China international cooperation in vocational education. This cooperation will lay the foundation for a long-term partnership between the two countries, the implementation of joint educational initiatives, the exchange of knowledge and experience, the strengthening of the international integration of vocational education, and the preparation of highly qualified personnel for the railway sector — all of which will further contribute to the development of Georgia's railway sector and vocational education system in the future.
